For Students

For the past several years, a six-hour, non-commercial program, "Live from Bell Labs," was designed to make science and mathematics come alive, arouse students' curiosity, and interest fifth- to tenth-graders in math and science courses and careers.

In his role as Vice President of Research, and later as Chief Scientist, Arno Penzias played a pivotal role on screen in each of the national telecasts of "Live from Bell Labs."

"America's future in science, math and engineering rests with students between the ages of 10 and 15 years," Penzias says. "If we can't interest them in science and technology, we will be a poorer nation -- intellectually and economically -- in a decade."

This Emmy-nominated annual program has allowed over 40 million students throughout the United States to step into the exciting world of current science technology without ever leaving their classrooms.
